Beginner Birding with Friends of the Dunes

Explore the birdlife of our coastal habitats with Humboldt County Public Work’s biologist, David Orluck, and join Friends of the Dunes for a bilingual birding adventure on Friday, February 14, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, or Saturday, February 15, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Both walks will feature a Spanish translator, making this event accessible for our Spanish-speaking community.

This event is perfect for beginner birders of all ages, offering a chance to learn about local birds, practice your observation skills, and connect with nature in a welcoming, inclusive environment. We'll have binoculars available for you to borrow, along with helpful identification checklists to keep track of the birds you spot. No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity, binoculars (if you have them), and a love for the outdoors!

It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature, observe amazing birds, and join in on citizen science efforts! This series of events was made possible through the collaborative efforts and partnerships from: The Bureau of Land Management, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, and Friends of the Dunes.
