Humboldt Bay Marathon & Half Marathon

Whether you are striving for another personal record or just looking for a uniquely beautiful place to run, the Humboldt Bay Marathon & Half Marathon races are exactly what you're looking for!

Half Marathon Course
The half marathon is two different out and backs, starting at Madaket Plaza, 1st & C Streets in Eureka. Runners take the first out and back going Northeast on the Waterfront Trail to a turn-around loop at Tydd Street. Runners return on the trail, pass through Madaket Plaza to cover the second, longer out and back. This second section includes a quick and spectacular jaunt on Del Norte Street Pier before continuing to the end of the Hikshari Trail and the turn around. Although this course is nearly flat, the views are diverse, just like Eureka and Humboldt Bay.

The half marathon starts at 8 AM, and participants will have 7 hours to complete the course. Walkers are welcome!

Marathon Course
The full marathon runs the Half Marathon course, TWICE! It provides a rare, scenic tour along the whole length of Eureka Waterfront and Hikshari trails. Runners will be able to experience the morning unfolding and the waterfront coming alive as they cover the course again. Just like the Half Marathon, this race is virtually flat with ample bathrooms and spots for supporters to sit and cheer.

The marathon will start at 7 AM, and runners will have a maximum of 8 hours to finish.

The Humboldt Bay Area combines spectacular scenery with the perfect climate for year-round running.

August is a dry month with an average high temperature of only 62.6 degrees (17 Celsius), so ideal conditions for this race are almost guaranteed.
